The MLBB European Championship Season 3 (MEC S3) brings another chapter of top-level Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition to Europe.
The new season takes teams through three distinct stages — Open Qualifiers, Regular Season and Playoffs — with every step narrowing the field on the road to the European title.
At the end of that journey, one team will not only become the MEC Season 3 champion, but also secure a direct qualification slot to SURGE Pro League Season 2 (SPL S2).
With €7,000 and 100,000 Diamonds on the line, Season 3 creates a clear path from the open competitive scene to the next level of the SURGE Europe ecosystem.
The road begins with two Open Qualifiers
MEC Season 3 opens its doors through two Open Qualifiers, giving teams across Europe the opportunity to fight their way into the main competition.
Both qualifiers use a Double Elimination format, giving teams a second chance after their first defeat while increasing the series length as the bracket progresses.
| Stage | Match Format |
|---|
| Early Rounds | Best of 1 |
| Upper Bracket Semifinals | Best of 3 |
| Lower Bracket Semifinals | Best of 3 |
| Upper Bracket Final | Best of 5 |
| Lower Bracket Final | Best of 5 |
Across the two qualifiers, six teams will earn their places in the MEC Season 3 Regular Season.
They will be joined by two invited teams, completing the eight-team field.
Eight teams enter the Regular Season
Once qualification is complete, the competition shifts away from elimination brackets and into a league format.
The MEC Season 3 Regular Season features eight teams competing together in a single group.
| Regular Season | Format |
|---|
| Teams | 8 |
| Qualified Teams | 6 |
| Invited Teams | 2 |
| Groups | 1 |
| System | Round Robin |
| Matches | Best of 2 |
Every team will face the rest of the field in Best of 2 series, creating a stage where consistency across multiple matchdays becomes just as important as individual series wins.
There is no bracket to hide behind during the Regular Season. Every result contributes toward determining which teams will continue their run.
When the Round Robin concludes, the Top 6 teams will advance to the MEC Season 3 Playoffs.
The bottom two will see their season come to an end.
Regular Season placement matters
Reaching the Playoffs is only part of the objective.
Where a team finishes during the Regular Season directly affects where its Playoff journey begins.
The Top 2 teams receive a major advantage, advancing directly into the Semifinals.
The teams finishing from third to sixth must instead begin their Playoff run from the Quarterfinals.
That creates an additional battle throughout the Regular Season: qualification guarantees a place in the final six, but finishing at the top can remove an entire elimination series from the road to the championship.
A custom Double Elimination Playoff
Six teams will remain when MEC Season 3 reaches its decisive stage.
The Playoffs use a Custom Double Elimination format designed to reward the strongest Regular Season performances while keeping every late-stage series meaningful.
| Playoff Stage | Format |
|---|
| Teams | 6 |
| Top 2 Regular Season Teams | Start from Semifinals |
| 3rd–6th Place Teams | Start from Quarterfinals |
| Quarterfinal Losers | Eliminated |
| All Playoff Matches | Best of 5 |
| Grand Final | Best of 7 |
The four lower-seeded teams begin in the Quarterfinals, where there is no second chance.
Despite the Double Elimination structure used later in the bracket, teams defeated in the Quarterfinals are immediately eliminated from MEC Season 3.
The two winners move forward to meet the Regular Season's Top 2 teams in the Semifinals, where the Upper and Lower Bracket paths begin to shape the final race for the title.
From there, every match is played as a Best of 5, giving teams more room to adapt across drafts, strategies and momentum swings.
The final battle goes even further.
Two teams will eventually reach the Best of 7 Grand Final, where the MEC Season 3 champion will be crowned.
The complete path through MEC Season 3
From an open bracket to the European championship stage, the competition follows a clear progression:
2 Open Qualifiers → 6 Qualified Teams + 2 Invited Teams → 8-Team Regular Season → Top 6 Playoffs → MEC Season 3 Champion
Each stage tests something different.
The Open Qualifiers reward survival.
The Regular Season rewards consistency.
The Playoffs reward performance when the stakes are at their highest.
€7,000 and 100,000 Diamonds on the line
MEC Season 3 features a total €7,000 prize pool, alongside 100,000 Diamonds available throughout the competition.
For the teams reaching the main event, the rewards sit alongside the opportunity to establish themselves among Europe's strongest MLBB rosters.
But for the eventual champion, there is another prize waiting beyond MEC itself.
One ticket to SURGE Pro League Season 2
MEC Season 3 sits directly inside the wider SURGE Europe competitive pathway.
The team that wins the Playoffs will earn one direct qualification slot to SURGE Pro League Season 2.
The competitive path therefore continues beyond the MEC trophy:
Open Qualifiers → MEC Regular Season → MEC Playoffs → SURGE Pro League Season 2
For teams beginning their journey in the Open Qualifiers, that means a run through MEC can ultimately lead all the way to the next level of European competition.
One tournament becomes the gateway to another.
