SURGE Pro League Season 2 brings EMEA's top teams together ahead of the international stage

The SURGE Pro League Season 2 (SPL S2) brings the top level of SURGE competition back with an eight-team EMEA playoff featuring representatives from Western Europe, Türkiye, EECA and MENA.

A total of €10,000 will be on the line, but SPL Season 2 is designed to offer more than a prize pool.

For professional organisations, the tournament creates an additional high-level competitive environment where rosters can test themselves, develop their systems and gain valuable stage experience ahead of major international events such as M8.

Four regions converge on one stage

SPL Season 2 brings together eight teams through a combination of regional qualifiers, direct invitations and the wider SURGE Europe competitive pathway.

Each of the four participating regions receives representation in the final Playoffs.

While Türkiye, EECA and MENA each combine one qualified team with one invited team, Western Europe follows a different route.

One WEU representative will earn its place through the Regional Qualifier, while the second slot will go to the MEC Season 3 champion.

Western Europe starts with Double Elimination

The Western Europe qualifier will be played through a Double Elimination bracket, giving teams two potential routes toward qualification.

The early stages begin with short Best of 1 matches before series become progressively longer as teams move closer to securing the SPL slot.

StageMatch Format
Early RoundsBest of 1
Upper Bracket SemifinalsBest of 3
Lower Bracket SemifinalsBest of 3
Upper Bracket FinalBest of 5
Lower Bracket FinalBest of 5

Only one team will advance from the WEU Regional Qualifier.

The second Western European slot is connected directly to the wider SURGE competitive ecosystem through MEC Season 3.

MEC Season 3 opens another road to SPL

For Western European teams, SPL Season 2 is not limited to a standalone qualifier.

The MEC Season 3 champion will earn a direct place in the SPL Season 2 Playoffs, creating a progression from open European competition into SURGE's highest-level tournament.

The path is clear:

MEC Season 3 → MEC Champion → SURGE Pro League Season 2

This connection gives teams competing through MEC another objective beyond the European Championship title itself and creates a direct bridge between the two competitions.

Regional pathways across Türkiye, EECA and MENA

Qualification in Türkiye, EECA and MENA will be handled through their respective Regional Organisers.

Each region receives two places in the SPL Playoffs: one earned through competition and one awarded through invitation.

The complete regional pathway is:

  • 🇹🇷 Türkiye: Regional Qualifier → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🇹🇷 Türkiye: Invitation → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🦅 EECA: Regional Qualifier → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🦅 EECA: Invitation → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🌍 MENA: Regional Qualifier → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🌍 MENA: Invitation → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🇪🇺 WEU: Regional Qualifier → 1 SPL Playoff slot
  • 🇪🇺 WEU: MEC Season 3 → 1 SPL Playoff slot

Once all eight teams are confirmed, the regional paths end and the race for the SPL Season 2 title begins.

Eight teams enter Double Elimination

The SPL Season 2 Playoffs will feature all eight qualified and invited teams in a Double Elimination bracket.

Every team begins in the Upper Bracket, with a first loss sending them into the Lower Bracket rather than immediately ending their tournament.

Most matches will be played as Best of 3, but the series become longer as the bracket reaches its most decisive stages.

StageMatch Format
Standard Playoff MatchesBest of 3
Lower Bracket SemifinalBest of 5
Upper Bracket FinalBest of 5
Lower Bracket FinalBest of 5
Grand FinalBest of 7

The format gives teams room to adapt across the tournament while still punishing repeated mistakes.

A strong Upper Bracket run offers the shortest route to the final, while teams falling into the Lower Bracket must survive every following series to keep their championship hopes alive.

The final two teams will eventually meet in a Best of 7 Grand Final to determine the SPL Season 2 champion.

More than a €10,000 prize pool

SPL Season 2 features a total prize pool of €10,000, but the value of the competition extends beyond the financial reward.

With international events demanding increasingly prepared and experienced rosters, SPL provides professional teams with another opportunity to compete in a structured environment against strong opposition from across EMEA.

For organisations preparing their line-ups for events such as M8, those additional official matches can become an important part of the preparation process.

Draft adaptation, roster synergy, communication and performance under pressure all become harder to reproduce through scrims alone.

SPL gives teams the opportunity to test those elements when the result actually matters.

A meeting point for EMEA competition

The SURGE Pro League is designed to bring together teams that usually compete through separate regional ecosystems.

Western Europe, Türkiye, EECA and MENA each have their own competitive structures and qualification systems, but SPL gives their strongest representatives a common stage.

That creates matchups that regional competition alone cannot provide and gives teams the chance to measure themselves against different styles of MLBB before moving onto larger international events.

For some teams, SPL will be the destination.

For others, it will be part of the preparation for what comes next.
